made it out before the thunderstorm started
Last two days have been a bit of a blur. I'm tired because I stayed up all night coding1. The tornado siren is howling right now, and there's a raging thunderstorm outside, so I'm racing to type this before the power cuts out. Manually saving the draft every time I finish a sentence so I don't lose anything.
Better make this post count, then.
So after not leaving my desk for almost twenty-four hours, I passed out for about four hours and then woke up and started debugging, which is what I've been doing off and on all evening, between leveling my Samurai in FFXIV. Finally reached level 60 and can start Stormblood.2
Took a break from debugging to go for my walk to the corner store. It was sprinkling when I left, and for a change of pace, the wind was calm enough that I probably could have taken my bike. It was rush hour, so I left the bike home.
Still haven't heard back from the pharmacy about the syringes I need to do my injection. All I have are draw needles; I'm completely out of injection needles, and I don't have any syringes either. I really boned myself this week. Hoping I hear back from them tomorrow; I should have done my injection on Tuesday, and it's now Friday night.
Granted, my levels were high when I got blood work done a couple of weeks ago, so I'm not worried that they're going to completely drop off if I have to go an entire week or longer without my injection. But I went a month without the injection last year, and it was Hell. I spent a lot of time dissociated.
Sounds like the storm is dying down, and the tornado siren has stopped. We still have power. I could keep typing, but this post is getting long, and I have a lot of work to do to get this story written.
I hope you were able to find some calm today.
I started writing interactive fiction while learning JavaScript last year. I finished one very short (maybe 500 words) story, then repurposed some of that code for an engineless IF short story that clocked in around 3,500 words. Ended up writing a prototype in Racket to make sure the story made logical sense before I refactored it in JavaScript. It works, and it's not a complete plate of spaghetti, so I cannibalized that code base to work on a longer (10,000-word) IF story that involves combat.↩
Started A Realm Reborn in January as a Gladiator/Paladin, then switched to Dragoon for Heavensward in March. I slammed through HW in about three weeks, and this weekend decided to switch to Samurai before I started STB. Had to get from level 50 to 60 before I could progress the Main Scenario Quest, so I've been running dungeons and learning my rotation for the last several days.↩
